Classic Tiramisu Layered Cake

This creamy tiramisu cake is made with espresso-soaked ladyfingers, rich mascarpone filling, cocoa powder, and chocolate shavings for a classic Italian-inspired dessert.

Ingredients
  

  • 6 large egg yolks
  • 1 cup 200g granulated sugar
  • 1 ¼ cups 280g mascarpone cheese (room temperature)
  • 1 ½ cups 360ml heavy cream
  • 1 cup 240ml freshly brewed espresso (cooled to room temperature)
  • 2 tablespoons dark rum or coffee liqueur, optional
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 24 ladyfingers Savoiardi biscuits
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder for dusting
  • Dark chocolate shavings, optional for garnish

Method
 

  1. Cook the egg yolks and sugar over a double boiler until thick and creamy.
  2. Fold in the mascarpone cheese until smooth.
  3. Whip the heavy cream with vanilla extract and gently combine with the mascarpone mixture.
  4. Dip the ladyfingers in espresso and layer them with the cream filling.
  5. Repeat the layers, then chill until set.
  6. Finish with cocoa powder and chocolate shavings before serving.
