Ingredients

  • 1 box of vanilla cake mix
  • The eggs listed on your cake mix instructions
  • The amount of oil your cake mix calls for
  • The amount of water your cake mix calls for
  • a quarter cup of ready-made vanilla frosting
  • a 12-ounce about 340 grams bag of pink candy melts
  • white sprinkles

Method

Bake the cake:
  1. Prepare and bake the cake according to the package instructions.
  2. Let cool completely.
Make the cake pops:
  1. Crumble the cooled cake into fine crumbs.
  2. Mix with vanilla frosting until the mixture holds together.
Shape:
  1. Roll the mixture into small balls, place on a lined tray, and freeze for 15–20 minutes until firm.
Coat:
  1. Melt the pink candy melts.
  2. Dip a cake pop stick into the candy and insert into each cake ball.
  3. Dip the cake pops into the melted candy and let excess drip off.
Decorate and set:
  1. Add sprinkles while the coating is wet.
  2. Place upright in a stand and let set at room temperature or in the fridge.
Serve:
  1. Enjoy once fully set.
  2. Store leftovers in an airtight container.

Notes

  1. Let the cake cool completely: A warm cake will turn the mixture greasy and make the cake pops hard to shape.
  2. Don’t add too much frosting: Add just enough for the crumbs to hold together. Too much frosting makes the cake pops soft and unstable.
  3. Melt the candy slowly: Heat the candy melts gently to avoid burning and keep the coating smooth and easy to dip.
